How to use your Video-Voice Work Disk:
1. Be sure your speech synthesizer is plugged into a power
outlet and is turned ON, and that it is properly attached to the
computer.
2. Place your Video-Voice Work Disk in drive A and close the
drive door. If your computer is already turned on, re-boot your
machine by holding down the Control and Alternate keys while you
press the Delete key. If the computer is turned off, turn it on
with the power switch and wait for it to finish booting.
3. Wait patiently while disks whir and various programs load.
Video-Voice will load automatically, and the opening screen will
be displayed. The opening screen will display the name of the
program and the Version Number, a copyright notice, a Serial
Number (which is not the same as your Registration Code) and some
miscellaneous information. It will loudly announce YOUR name as
the registered owner.
3. The opening screen will prompt you to enter your Registration
code. THIS CODE IS YOUR TELEPHONE NUMBER. It acts like a
password. You don't have to worry about people stealing your
copy of Video-Voice. If they don't know the registration code,
they can't use the program. This registration code is the
telephone number you gave us when you ordered Video-Voice from
Grassroots Computing.
(note: If you want to change either the Registration Name or the
Registration Code, you must fill out a special form and pay the
usual upgrade fee.)
Type in your Registration Code. It includes your three-
digit area code and your seven-digit phone number. For example,
Deborah Norling's Registration Number at Grassroots Computing is
4156441855. Notice that spaces and punctuation need not be
entered. If you do type in spaces or punctuation, the program
will accept them however. If you wish, you may enter spaces and
punctuation, but they are ignored by the program. Each time you
press a key, a dot will be displayed on the screen and a short
beep will be sounded by the computer.
If you make an error, press the ENTER key and try again. If
you have not entered your Registration Code correctly after three
attempts, the program will announce that you failed to enter your
Registration Code correctly, and the program will return you to
the DOS A> prompt. At this time you must begin again by typing
in the command:
Vidvoice
and pressing the ENTER key.
If you have entered your Registration Code correctly, the
program will inform you that Video-Voice has been loaded into
your computer and that you are now ready to use it to read the
information displayed on the screen by your applications
programs.
4. Remove the Video-Voice Work Disk from drive A and put it away.
You are now ready to load and run your applications program.
